Sometimes as a parent, you get to the point where you are just not in the mood to go to the park with your children or play tea party for the tenth time that day! So, you need to design new and creative ideas to do something that is fun for you and your kids. Well, I discovered a great idea that is fun for adults as well as kids – an afternoon at a winery! I am sure a winery is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of a family friendly activity, but some friends of mine showed my husband and I how fun it can be for everyone! We had a wonderful family afternoon at a Temecula winery and here is how we did it!
My husband, two kids and I, are lucky enough to live in the beautiful city of Temecula, California; home to over 30 wineries!

Not every winery is family friendly so make sure to research which ones you’re visiting before arriving with the kids 😉! The one that our friend’s suggested was Peltzer Family Cellars.
Peltzer Family Cellars is one of the newer wineries in the Temecula Wine Country. They opened their winery in late 2016. For several years, they had a pumpkin patch before they opened Peltzer Family Cellar. We have made it a tradition to visit their pumpkin patch every year with our kids. The kids love the petting zoo and pony rides, train, pig races, gem mining and a corn maze! Some of my favorite family memories!….Ok back to the wine lol…
The Crush House (the tasting room), is decorated beautifully and immediately makes you feel relaxed as soon as you walk in! “Barn chic” is how the winery describes their décor! What makes it extra special is that it was decorated by the owner’s wife! The atmosphere was easy going and they played great music! In addition to the inside seating, they have couches and high top tables outside to enjoy during nice weather!
Their wine tastings are paired with delicious bread from Great Harvest Bread Company! Wine & bread – what could be better!! My favorite part was finding out that on the weekends and some holidays, they have a sangria bar! Every month they change their sangria choices based on the theme for that month! Another bonus – they can add Prosecco to any of them! We all know how much my Mom, Always5Star, loves her bubbly 😉!!!
The combination of the relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff, and great outdoor area, helped make this experience enjoyable for the whole family! The staff was great with the kids too! Shout out to J.C., who worked the Sangria Bar, and brought the kids a plate of oranges to share!

Make sure to pack a survival kit to keep your kids entertained! We brought coloring books, crayons and their tablet. We also brought them snacks and juice! As all parents know, full tummies = happy kids!
Final Thoughts:
Whether you are visiting Temecula or have wineries near you, consider them as an option for a fun family afternoon. Many wineries have live music, movie nights and special events throughout the year!
