Always5Star Guide to Monte De Oro Winery & Vineyards in Temecula Valley, California

If you have not visited Temecula Valley in Southern California, I highly recommend a trip to this beautiful area. Many of you know Napa as the premier wine region, but Temecula offers numerous wineries and gorgeous vineyards that put this town on the map especially for wine lovers.

Temecula Valley was just a stop on the stagecoach route back in the 1860s. Over one hundred years later it is an established and booming wine region. Temecula Valley has grown immensely, and now you will find over forty wineries.

One of the many wineries to choose from in Temecula Valley is Monte De Oro Winery & Vineyards. The wines are excellent quality, and the wine tasting room and surrounding vineyards offer a beautiful setting to enjoy wine tasting.

The following is my Always5Star tips when visiting Monte De Oro Winery & Vineyards

5StarTips🌟:

🌟 About the Winery:

“The main goal was to make the best wines
we could in the Temecula Valley…
and we are 100% estate-grown”.

The vineyards were planted in 2002, but it wasn’t until 2010 that the Monte De Oro winery opened.

5StarTip🌟: There is a special bottle of red wine called Owner’s Blend Synergy 65. The owners are very proud of this wine which consist of five of the original grapes of the vineyards:

2014 “Owner’s Blend” Synergy 65:

  • Syrah
  • Cabernet Sauvignon
  • Merlot
  • Zinfandel
  • Cabernet Franc

The General Manager is Ken Zignorski, one of the owners of the winery. I was excited to hear that he was responsible for all the Christmas decorations. They were lovely and created a fantastic festive atmosphere in the gift shop and tasting room.

The Monte De Oro vineyards comprise a total of over 70 acres in Temecula Valley – 11 at the property – 10 behind Callaway Winery (Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon) – 20 acres behind Leoness Winery and 30 acres behind Galway Downs.

🌟 Wine Tasting:

Their red wines are barrel-aged longer than other wineries. Did you know that the longer the wine is aged in the barrel, the greater the depth of flavor? Most wineries age their wines 18 months in the barrel. However, Monte De Oro ages their wines approximately 25 – 30 months. The special reserve wines are anywhere from 42 to 44 months. Monte de Oro currently offers 14 reds, 4 whites, and 2 rosés.

Final Thoughts:

I visited Monte De Oro Winery for a wine tasting with my friend Jimmy Fu (the talented photographer who took these fabulous pictures). We were impressed not only by the outstanding wine but the fact everyone is treated like family when they visit.

I approached several different people while I was there to ask their thoughts and opinions. I was amazed at the compliments and praise directed toward the winery!

Two of the women I spoke with, Cecilie Nelson and Dr. Alisia Moutry, are owners and also wine club members. Their vibrant personalities and lovely smiles lit up the entire room. They clearly delighted in the surroundings and savored their experience at the winery.

Cheers to Cecilie and Alisia! – Jimmy Fu-tography

I met guests who come to the winery every year when visiting Temecula Valley. All of the customers I spoke with were wine club members.

People love how they feel when visiting the winery. The staff creates a warm and inviting environment to taste and appreciate the wines.

Cheers to Monte De Oro for focusing on the beautiful wine and the people who enjoy it! Always5Star! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
