Palumbo Family Vineyards & Winery in Temecula
With only 2,500 cases produced per year, you may be tempted to call the Palumbo Family Vineyards and Winery a boutique winery, but owners Nick and Cindy Palumbo prefer the term “artisanal.”
To the Palumbo family, making wine is like creating art. This is a family-run business operated by Nicholas, Cindy and their four children. Their winemaking is based on two simple factors: using quality fruit and aging with barrels. Their process works because their wines have won a combined 19 Gold and Silver awards at various Southern California competitions.
The following are Always5Star tips and information aboutΒ Palumbo Family Vineyards and WineryΒ that you will find very helpful when visiting this winery:
π Family Owned Winery
I had the honor of meeting both Nick Palumbo and his wife Cindy during my visit to their winery. I also had the privilege of meeting one of their sons as I first arrived at the wine tasting room. He was serving tastings when I walked into the quaint cottage that is home for the wine tasting.
There is something extraordinary about a family owned winery that is so “hands-on.” From the moment I met Nick, I was impressed by his passion for farming. They are dedicated to creating handcrafted wines from a sustainably farmed wine vineyard. He also shared that they raise their own animals as well. He took pride in stating that his winery is based on being “purists.”

π Temecula Pride
While my colleagues* and I were enjoying tasting the wines, I was impressed at how passionate Nick was for Temecula Valley wines. He spoke from his heart about his collaborative efforts with other wineries in the area in working together to communicate worldwide how Temecula Valley is creating exceptional wines.

π The Wine
The winery aims is to produce full-bodied reds, grown on the estate and both single variety bottles as well as a few unique blends.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Sangiovese varietals are all planted on their 13-acre property. Viognier and Syrah are planted on neighboring properties to extend the variety of wines offered.
π My favorite pick: 2013 Cellar Dwellar Jimbo’s Blend
I was hard-pressed to pick a favorite. I ended up joining the wine club and I came home with a bottle that I savored last. I paired my 2013 Cellar Dwellar Jimbo’s Blend with my piano playing jazz music. It was an Always5Star moment to enjoy this very special red blend. The blend is 47% Mourvedre, 28% Syrah, 25% Cinsault, and 100% delicious!
