What is the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program and how good are the benefits?
One of the many perks you will love about the American Express Platinum Card is the Fine Hotels and Resorts Benefit program. I take advantage of this program quite often and book my rooms with this benefit and have had such a positive experience that I had to share its virtues.
Using the Fine Hotels and Resorts Program.
Let’s first start with defining what the program is. For AMEX Platinum Card credit card holders, you are able to reserve a luxury hotel or resort from their international portfolio of over 1,000 hotels and resorts. These hotels include some of the most elegant and luxurious brands across the world such as the Ritz-Carlton, Four Seasons, Park Hyatt, Mandarin Oriental, Waldorf Astoria, Shangri-La, Montage, St Regis, Bulgari, to just name a few. All the hotels and resorts are of an Always5Star quality. When booking a hotel that qualifies for the Fine Hotel & Resorts program, you will get a competitive rate with other booking sites. More importantly, it is a amazing value because you will receive the following additional valuable benefits:
- Noon Check-in, when available
- Room Upgrade upon arrival, when available
- Daily breakfast for two people
- Guaranteed 4 pm Late Check-Out
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- An additional amenity based on the hotel chosen – an example is the $100 food and beverage credit or credits toward a spa treatment.

Step One🌟:
Go to the website address for American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts and log in to your account.
Log In: American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts web page
Step Two🌟:
Begin researching available hotels and rooms for your destination and dates:
Step Three🌟:
Once you hit “Search,” you will be given a list of hotels and prices that are available.
“Select” the hotel that best meets your criteria.
5StarTip🌟: Look for the special amenity that is offered for each hotel. In the example below, the special amenity is an additional $100 credit toward food and beverage purchases. Note: each hotel property will offer a unique amenity.
Step Four🌟:
Your search will provide a list of rooms available and a detailed room description. The benefits for this hotel used in the above example include:
- Noon Check-in, if available
- Room Upgrade upon arrival, when available
- Daily breakfast for two people
- Guaranteed 4 pm Late Check-Out
- Complimentary Wi-Fi
- Unique Property Amenity: For this example, it was USD $100 Food and Beverage Credit to be used during the stay
From this screen, choose “Select.”
Step Five🌟:
You will then have an opportunity to review your reservation before purchasing. Once you have reviewed it, and find all information to be correct, enter your American Express credit card information. The reservation is not charged to your card until you stay at the property. Once you confirm your reservation, you will receive a confirmation number and a confirming email.
Overview and Comparisons:
Using the example above, I was able to secure a reservation at the elegant St. Regis in downtown Houston, Texas. It is a five-star property in a desirable part of town. Please note: This example was an exceptional price and hotels and resorts would vary in prices depending on your location and dates that you are booking.

Final Thoughts:
With each destination, there will be unique factors such as the days of the week, location, time of year, etc. which will affect the overall price savings. However, this program provides valuable additional benefits. After my stay at the St. Regis in Houston (actual costs used in the above example), I know that this is a valuable program offered by the American Express Platinum credit card.
