The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has a beautiful lounge and restaurant. It is especially helpful and convenient if you are staying at the hotel. I had the opportunity to try the restaurant and the bar and found it to be a real treat! Please take a look at these pictures and enjoy meeting one of the gifted chefs Alison Houston, Executive Sous Chef, and an exceptional bartender named Les.

Article One Lounge:

The Article One Lounge is located right off the lobby area. The bar offers plenty of seating and lounging couches, a great place to gather after a day in Washington D.C.

Located behind the lounge area are several small private cubicles that offer small comfy couches and chairs to relax in small groups and have a more intimate experience.

The lounge serves a wide variety of drinks as well as appetizers. The menu is designed to offer signature cocktails that are specialties of Article One Lounge.

Meet Les! He has been a bartender at the Hyatt Washington on Capitol Hill since the lounge was first opened 40 years ago. Isn’t that amazing! A delightful man, he showed me how to make an extraordinary drink – a Strawberry mint lemonade (served on the rocks or in a chilled champagne flute):

• Fresh lemon juice
• Agave Nectar
• Raspberry Syrup
• Topped with Champagne
• Garnished with mint leaves and raspberries

Les is also very proud of his signature drink “Les’ rum punch”. It even is offered in the menu to honor his 40 years of dedicated service to the Hyatt.

• Cruzan rum
• lime
• pineapple juice
• grenadine
• bitters
• topped with Myer’s dark rum and served on the rocks

There are several other special signature cocktails that are available on the menu. There are also a large variety of wines to choose. I, of course, ordered my drink of choice – champagne! Cheers!

Article One – American Grill:

The Article One American Grill restaurant is located right next to the bar area in the lobby. The restaurant has a fantastic full breakfast buffet with an omelet bar. It also offers lunch and dinner. The restaurant is deceiving as it is not just another lobby hotel restaurant. The chef’s take a sincere interest in creating an enjoyable gourmet dining experience.

The menu includes lunch and dinner gourmet options, including freshly caught seafood, fresh meat, and vegetarian selections.

If you’re looking to host a more private dinner, the restaurant has two semi-private dining rooms.

Final Thoughts:

Both the Article One Lounge and the Article One American Grill restaurant offer a delightful dining experience. With the convenience of being inside the hotel, there is no need to search farther for a meal out.
