I have stayed here at least once a year for the past 6 years. I enjoy coming to this property for a variety of stays including family, couples, and business. The property, over these years, has remained consistent. The interior renovations are always appreciated. For this visit, we invited another couple to join us for a fun weekend. We reserved two rooms and it was the first time at this property for them. Though, overall our stay was good, we all felt that the staff service could use some improvement. Otherwise, this would have been a wonderful stay.
Location: The main part of the hotel is located in Incline Village, but you will need transportation to access local restaurants and stores. The hotel is situated across a street from the beach area where their Lone Eagle Grill restaurant is located. There are two story cottages that you can also reserve that are on the beach.
Rooms: The main hotel has a variety of rooms to choose from. We usually reserve the corner rooms because of the views and the extra room. The corner rooms are spacious and have a small alcove for a couch as well as a window seating area underneath the bay windows for views.
Bathroom: The bathroom is also spacious with ample counter space and a large mirror area. We were put into a handicapped room (the bathtub is modified with handle bars), which we thought they should have saved for couples/individual who would need it. We were told the other corner rooms were sold out and it was the only one available when we checked in.
Linens: The linens and towels were nice although not plush. Robes were provided.
Staff: The staff could have been friendlier. The check-in was not what I am used to being a Diamond member with Hyatt. Staff at most Hyatt’s are excellent, however, this property does seem to be lacking a little. The check-in was abrupt and when we asked about our Diamond amenity – he acted put out (as if we were demanding a favor). The employee in the Regency Club Lounge in the evening was a bit rude. She informed all of us at 8:30 p.m. that we better be out at 9:00. Everyone in the lounge looked at each other and made comments about her rudeness. She actually asked us to leave out the back door. Very unusual for a Lounge employee. The concierges were not much better. Some staff members we encountered during our stay seemed to be annoyed at having to assist. Sadly, we encountered other customers who voiced the same opinion.
Other:
The positive is this Hyatt hotel has a unique way of handling the Diamond status amenity. The hotel offers a Diamond member benefit of going to their store and picking out a couple of items such as a bottle of wine and a snack. I found this to be a very nice perk!
Views:
As we have stayed here many times and have had different rooms we noticed that a lot of the views are obstructed by buildings/parking lots/trees. It is your personal preference whether you prefer a pool view which you can see mountains as well, or a slight lake view. There are very few rooms that have unobstructed complete views. However, the views from the corner rooms do seem to be the better.
Final Thoughts:
The overall feel of this property is good. The proximity to the beautiful beach, and the wonderful walking paths, a casino, a couple of nice restaurants, and pool area, all make for a good experience. The rooms are well maintained, clean and spacious. What would put the word “great” in this description is staff being friendlier. Unfortunately, this proved to be quite off-putting on this stay.
Always5StarTip: Plan to spend a sunset at the Lone Eagle Grille Bar, located across the street on the beach near the cottages. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the views are spectacular! Corner rooms top floors – overlooking the lake.
