Hotel Valencia in San Jose, California – A luxury boutique hotel!

I really appreciate a luxury boutique hotel! And if you do too, San Jose California has one that you will love. Hotel Valencia is a lovely boutique hotel that is ideally located in the middle of Santana Row in San Jose. Santana Row is a district that is designed with upscale shopping, dining, and entertainment, etc. The area exudes an Old World European charm, but at the same time, has a modern and exciting vibe.

The beautiful entry to the Hotel Valencia

Arriving at the hotel, I became aware that it is the only hotel in the Santana Row district. The hotel is quaint with only 215 guest rooms and suites, two on-site restaurants, a full-service bar and a seasonal rooftop bar. You arrive on street level and are guided by bellmen to an elevator which leads you to the check in and lobby area.

The lobby and check-in area of the hotel

Having stayed in many boutique hotels internationally, this is very much reminiscent of those experiences. In comparison, it has the look and feel of the Relais & Châteaux properties. It is a status for finer boutique hotels that I appreciate for a more intimate atmosphere and the really luxurious feel of these properties. Hotel Valencia fits this description perfectly.

The courtyard leading out of the lobby area

I checked into room 603. This room is a “Deluxe Balcony Room”, with a large king bed, sitting area and a balcony that overlooks the wonderful views of the Santana Row.

My balcony afforded me these wonderful views

The room was decorated with a strong Spanish influence. The bed and linens were extravagant. The room radiated comfort, and the colors and furniture lent themselves to relaxation. The room also featured an ample space to conduct business.

An oversized chair and ottoman to relax in while enjoying a good book or watching TV
I appreciated the large desk area to conduct business during my stay. Plenty of room to get organized.
Large flat screen TV, coffee/tea, a personal safe, and a honor bar
Bathroom with lighted mirror, a standard tub, sink with countertop space
Rooms included robes, which I always appreciate!

I enjoyed the unique and interesting décor elements throughout the common interior areas of the hotel. I took a picture of the hallway to my room because I found the lighting to be fascinating. Throughout the hotel, the walls were peppered with artistic murals as well. Don’t you just love it when a hotel offers unique art features?

In keeping with European hotel traditions, a continental breakfast at their restaurant Oveja Negra is included with your stay. The restaurant is located to the right of the lobby check-in area next, to the courtyard.

Oveja Negra – Breakfast can be eaten in the courtyard, weather permitting
The continental breakfast includes two warm dishes – usually eggs and another choice that changes daily such as potatoes, bacon, sausage, etc.
Fruits, deli meats and cheeses, and hard boiled eggs
Beverages that include a variety of juices, water, tea and coffee
Pastries and breads that were offered with jams and butter

The hotel has a wonderful roof top pool that is very inviting and offers views of the Santana Row! The patio has plenty of lounging chairs with deep cushions for comfort.

Fun place to relax and cool down during the hot summer months – or anytime!
Nice views from the pool deck as well!

For those wanting a work out….Hotel Valencia has a well-equipped gym offering exercise equipment for those staying at the hotel.

I worked out every morning and the gym was always clean!

Not only is the hotel well situated to the wonderful shops and restaurants, but for those seeking a haunting experience, it is also located within walking distance of the famous “Winchester House”! A must see when you are visiting San Jose.

Our tour guide said that he had seen a ghost on one of his tours. Spooky!

Final Thoughts:

My experience at the Hotel Valencia was wonderful, and I will definitely be returning to enjoy it again. The city of San Jose and the Hotel Valencia are fantastic for leisure, business, romance, and family stays. There is so much to see and do that staying a week may not be enough. That was the case for me. I found that I couldn’t accomplish all that I wanted to do. So…I guess that just means I will have to go back and make sure to get it all in.

I would give Hotel Valencia an Always5Star Cheers! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Champagne enjoyed at dinner in the Oveja Negra restaurant! Cheers!
