Charlie Palmer Steak DC restaurant in Washington D.C. is located within walking distance of the Capitol building. The restaurant is famously known for aged Angus rib-eye steak and locally sourced seafood. Something you may not know, the views of the Capitol from the restaurant’s private event rooftop terrace are probably the best views of the Capitol building anywhere.
When walking into the restaurant, the decor is the first thing to grab your attention. The stylish, contemporary design delights and creates the ambiance for an upscale culinary experience.
Greeted by employees that have worked here for years, you realize that this is a restaurant that encourages loyalty. The customers and the employees share an entirely personal familiarity!
I had the pleasure of meeting Executive Chef Mike Ellis. To my surprise, he not only came out to our table but sat with us and introduced himself. He proudly told us about his menu and what inspired him while creating it. One of the lunch entrees, which was designed from his heart, is the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich with citrus slaw, tomato, and cajun remoulade – a recipe that honors his mother’s cooking.
My friend loves a good salmon dish, so she ordered the citrus basted king salmon with bulger wheat tabbouleh, greek yogurt, tzatziki, and piquillo pepper. This was an amazing dish, and if you enjoy salmon, it is a dish that must be ordered.
A specialty dish that this restaurant feature is locally sourced seafood dishes. Learning this, I had to order the seafood platter that featured the Chesapeake Bay oysters and soft shell crab. The entire tray of fresh seafood was fantastic and thoroughly enjoyed this fabulous dish.
Within the restaurant, I found that the tables near the expansive windows were, in my opinion, the best location for a meal. I enjoyed the light airiness and the ability to appreciate Washington DC views from the table.
Private Dining Options:
One option for any function is to reserve a spot for a private dining experience. There is a rooftop for special events that offers panoramic views of the Capitol building and the National Mall. Exclusive access to the building’s 9th floor and a grand rooftop terrace. Charlie Palmer Steak restaurant is a dream location for a wedding or business affair. Without a doubt (I had the opportunity to experience this) the best views from a restaurant near the Capitol. Charlie Palmer has been awarded for being Capitol Hill’s Best Private Event Space and one of the best wedding vendors.
