American Express has a wonderful benefit for Platinum cardholders – complimentary access to an exclusive VIP Always5Star airport lounge experience called the Centurion Lounge. Access to this lounge is available to all valid American Express Platinum cardholders and applies no matter which airline you are flying with or which class of service you have reserved. The DFW Centurion lounge provides travelers with several reasons to hope for a little extra time before your flight in order to enjoy all that this club has to offer.
Here are a few of the main highlights of this wonderful airport lounge:
Hours:
Open daily: 5:30 am – 10 pm.
Location:
The Centurion Lounge in DFW is located in Terminal D across from gate D12 near Applebee’s restaurant. You can easily get to Terminal D (International Terminal) from any other terminal in DFW by riding the free Skylink train. The Skylink can be found by looking for the orange, yellow, and blue signs inside each of the Terminals. The trains arrive every two minutes, and the ride time usually averages around five to ten minutes. I was able to get from Terminal A to Terminal D quickly and easily using the Skylink. You do not have to go through security again to access Terminal D.
5Startip🌟: Check in with the front desk and ask when you should leave the lounge to allow enough time to get to your gate. They are knowledgeable about knowing just the right time to leave!
Interior:
The American Express Centurion Lounges have a similar décor that is reflected throughout all their locations. It is a contemporary modern design with clean lines of muted grays, stainless steel, warm wood paneling, whites and then pops of bright accent colors. There are also art features that can be spotted throughout the lounge.
Seating:
With the new location, they have added quite a bit of much-needed space. It is a large lounge and offers plenty of seating. However, this lounge is also quite popular. I have visited on several occasions, and there have been times where it is difficult to find a seat depending on the time of day of your flight.
5Startip🌟: Try to locate a chair near the business section, and you can usually find a place to sit where it is quieter. This area also offers plugs for charging your electronic devices.
Food Selections:
The food selection is the foundation that gives this lounge the “Always 5 Star” shine! The buffet dining options are designed by James Beard Award-winner: Chef Dean Fearing. The dining fare is Texas influenced and the cuisine has been of top-notch quality. A little secret – I plan ahead and arrive hungry so that I can enjoy this great dining experience.
Bar Selections:
This is another big plus of this lounge. The drink selection is ample and offers high-quality brands. If your drink is not on the menu, the bartenders are willing to make you whatever you request. The bartenders I have encountered have been extremely friendly and helpful.
Wine served: 7:00 am – 9:30 pm

5StarTip🌟: Please drink responsibly! Never offer alcohol to anyone under 21.
Special Services:
Complimentary Spa Service
The DFW location has a special perk –the Exhale Spa 15-minute complimentary massage or manicure. Depending on the time you arrive, it can be quite busy and it is done on a first-come, first-serve basis. Availability has been a hit or miss for me. However, it is worth a try as it is a great treat and an important relaxation moment when you are traveling.
5StarTip🌟: As soon as you check into the front desk, put your name in for a treatment. The treatments are popular and you want to make sure that you can squeeze it in before your flight!
The spa room is small and has a couple of massage chairs with face cradles. There is soft music playing in the background. The only downside is you are situated around others having a massage. So, though they try to create a peaceful atmosphere, sometimes the proximity of the other massage can be a little distracting. For more information: DFW Exhale Spa
5StarTip🌟: I always bring money for a tip. You are not paying for the actual service, but I like to show my gratitude to the employee with a tip. However, it is up to your own discretion as to whether to tip or not.
Workspace:
The best workspace is toward the back. There is an area that has plugs for charging and is set up with computers, and a printer for your business needs.
Bathrooms/Showers:
There are very nice showers and bathrooms in this location as well. A great opportunity to refresh between long-haul connecting flights. The L’Occitane products are available in the bathrooms and showers.
Children’s room:
There is an enclosed room especially for the little ones to play and not disturb the other guests of the lounge!
Final Thoughts:
I truly enjoy the DFW Centurion lounge and would like to congratulate American Express for seeing this benefit as important to their card-holders. I travel frequently as all of you know and find that whenever I have a layover at DFW, I look forward to enjoying and relaxing in this lounge. I am hopeful that this will be a new trend and more locations will continue to open up at other airports around the world. Cheers to you my friends and to American Express Centurion on a much-appreciated benefit!
5StarTips🌟:
🌟 The best place to relax and sit is toward the back of the lounge. The area near the food and bar are always more crowded and bustling.
🌟 Sign up for a massage as soon as you check-in.
🌟 Try the showers, especially with connecting long International flights!
🌟 There are several specialty cocktails offered, experiment and ask the bartender for suggestions and try something new!
🌟 You can bring with you up to two guests or family members at no additional charge.
How to qualify for access to the American Express Centurion Lounges:
