Below I have outlined my five favorite features of the Verizon Care Smart watch. Having gifted a watch to my mother-in-law and my father-in-law, I can speak to how these features work.

Simple Calling:

The watch design allows for ease of use. A simple swipe to the left and the senior will see a list of 10 trusted contacts, including a designated “Emergency Contact.” The emergency contact displays an orange phone icon on their image to differentiate it from the other contacts. To make a call, the senior only has to tap on the contact image and choose a call or message. The icons are large and easily seen on the watch’s face.

You (Caregiver) will be assisting the watch owner with setting these 10 contacts up through the free app that you can download from the app store onto your smartphone. The limit of 10 contacts is for their safety, and the user of the watch will not be bothered by pesky spam calls. In my case, the 10 contacts we set up for our loved ones included close family members and their Dr. phone numbers.

Location Sharing 

The watch has a GPS Location sharing feature that is fantastic. Caregivers can download the free app onto their phone and easily locate your loved one on a map. The Senior is also able to pull down a screen and hit “Check-In.”

You can easily see where your loved one is by looking at your phone’s Care Smart app and can easily (real-time) see their location on a map. This is essential and helpful for those of us who are caring for senior(s) that have Dementia or Alzheimers. GPS is easy to read, and you know exactly where your loved one is!

Step Counter

There is a step counter function that will help them stay active and track their steps.

A significant function of the watch to set targets and get going and get their steps in. We all need a little reminder and goal to keep us active and healthy, especially as we get older.

Reminders 

I enjoyed seeing this feature as you can set up reminders for taking pills, Dr. appointments. Even if they have a scheduled chess game with friends, the reminders can be easily set and will notify them on their watch face.

With many seniors, there are medications they need to take daily. A reminder on their watch is a wonderful way not to overlook taking them.

There are a few other features that are fantastic too, including:
