5StarTip🌟: Want to stay at a Luxury hotel for less this summer? Here is how!

Ritz Carlton Palm Desert California

Dreamed of staying at a luxury resort and find that it doesn’t quite fit your budget?

The entrance to the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa

Here is one way you can accomplish this:

Book off-season! Yes, there are locations around the world where summer is their off-season. There are destinations where the weather is less desirable in the summer than other times of the year. There are ways to design your luxury stay and avoid feeling the “heat” while maximizing your opportunity to experience a luxury resort. There are many hotels throughout the world that discount their prices during the summer months.

As an example, I have chosen the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells Resort and Spa to demonstrate the difference between on and off season room prices. Indian Wells (near Palm Springs, in California, is notoriously hot during the summer and can be unpleasant for those not prepared for the heat. As such, the hotels in the area discount their prices to attract customers by offering different promotional packages to entice you to stay. Hyatt Regency Indian Wells is one of several upscale resorts that offer some great room prices during the summer months (typically June, July, and August).

I booked a stay at this resort a couple of weeks ago for a four day getaway. Honestly, my hubby thought I was crazy for booking during the hottest month. However, I was able to create a very special romantic getaway that was relaxing and offered that luxury element that leaves you feeling pampered. And the best part was, I was able to do this for the fraction of the normal cost!

Summer activities can include early golf (to escape the heat) and spa treatments

Here is an illustration of the savings for on season and off season rates straight from Hyatt’s website:

On Season Prices:

Off Season Summer Price:

Costs for rooms during the “Off Season” or summer months.

This example provides a savings of $451 per night for the same category room rate for a amazing discount. Obviously the price savings will vary amongst the different hotels in the area. It is good to research to find the hotels that offer the best savings. Other luxury hotel chains such as Ritz Carlton, Marriott, Hilton and Westin, etc. have offered discounts in this area as well. Using websites such as ExpediaTripAdvisorTravelzooAmerican Express Travel, etc., can give you good overall price comparisons by location.

Here are my 5 Star Tips🌟 for surviving the heat and enjoying a lovely luxury resort:

🌟 Book during the middle of the week. Even off season resorts get a little busier on the weekends, so your best prices are often during the week days. However, even if you can only get away for a weekend, the prices (see example above) can be significantly lower than on-season.

🌟 Look for package deals that might include a spa treatment, golf, or a meal.

🌟 Do as they do in Spain – wake up early, stay up late, and take a siesta/nap during the hottest part of the day.

🌟 Many resorts offer summer programs and resort activities to generate interest in booking a reservation. One such activity is a movie night at the pool. This is a great way to cool down and relax while enjoying an evening of entertainment.

🌟 Bring refillable water bottles to stay hydrated, and a collapsible cooler (packs easily in your luggage) to keep food and drinks cool. Use the free ice from the ice machine. And don’t forget the sunscreen!

We opted for a couple massage to enjoy on site!

The room I choose for this stay was quite luxurious and worth the splurge. It was a one bedroom villa. This room on On-Season was $730. Off-Season is is $346 for the nights that we stayed. Here is a peak at this beautiful villa!

The king bedroom was huge, with a sliding patio door that lead to a private jacuzzi
The living room area of the villa boasted a fire place and large screen TV
A kitchenette area for entertaining and enjoying meals in your villa
A dining room table for four to use for meals and of course champagne!
The master bathroom was one of my favorite elements of this room! The soaking tub was Always5Star!
The best part is this private jacuzzi on your patio – The patio also included a bbq, lounge chairs, and table.
Cheers to your Off-Season Summer Luxury Resort savings!
