Hyatt Regency Tyson Corner Center will surprise you!

I travel often to Washington D.C. and I have had the opportunity to stay at luxury five star hotels. I had heard there was a fairly new Hyatt hotel (opened in 2015) that was located in Tyson Corner. I am currently a Hyatt “Globalist” and was seeking a hotel where I could use my status and points to maximize a stay to an Always 5 Star level.

I have not stayed at this property in my previous visits to Washington DC, and I was intrigued to try this one. I travel at least 3 times a year to Washington DC and know that I enjoy the Tyson Corner Center area. What interested me is that when reading the description on the Hyatt website, I noticed that it was in a desirable location, and it was situated next to the Tyson’s Corner Center Mall with direct, convenient access from the hotel. For all us who enjoy a great shopping experience, this is a huge plus. Especially in those months when weather can be challenging such as the coldest parts of winter or the hottest times in the summer.

Researching my dates online at the Hyatt website, the rate seemed reasonable, especially since downtown Washington DC rates are quite a bit higher. I booked a standard room, but called the Hyatt “World of Hyatt” line and requested an upgrade to a suite by using my points and status as a “Globalist”. Thankfully, a suite upgrade was available and I was booked into a suite for one night. An additional benefit to being a “Globalist” is you will receive the private Regency Club Lounge complimentary access as a perk. I personally enjoy this benefit and I was happy to learn that this Hyatt hotel had one.

Airport Access:

I decided to fly into DCA because I was happy to learn that the hotel is so closely located to this airport. It was a quick 15 minute* taxi drive/or Uber drive to the hotel. (*Time depends of time of day, it could be longer during rush hours).

When you walk into the entrance you are met by beautiful crystal art situated on the ceiling, that beckons you from the entrance. Very modern and sleek design. I loved the artistic statement this made!

Upon entering this foyer, you will take an elevator to arrive at the lobby check-in area. The lobby is quite stunning. High ceilings with the crystal chandeliers and contemporary design are apparent. The design is further enjoyed by the openness and light from the windows. This hotel does not feel like a normal business Hyatt Regency hotel. The Hyatt Regency Tyson Corner Center already seems to me to be more on the line of a Grand Hyatt level of hotel.

The Hyatt Regency Tyson Corner Center “Plaza Premium Suite”

After checking in, I was anxious to see our room. The Plaza Premium Suite is one that must be booked if you are staying at this hotel. It was fantastic! Let me walk you through my experience with the following pictures:

The Bathroom…oh the bathroom!! I will be back just to have this experience again. Is this not a fabulous Always 5 Star bathroom?

After a great night’s rest, it is time to hit the gym and pool for a little exercise!

After a great workout and a wonderful refreshing shower in our amazing bathroom, we are off to the mall to enjoy some shopping! John (my fabulous hubby) and I decided to shop and then choose to enjoy a movie located inside the mall.

We came back to enjoy the Regency Club once again, ordered some champagne and ended our day with a wonderful sigh of happiness. What a fun and special getaway!

Final Thoughts:

To sum up my stay, here are my five-star points as to why I enjoyed staying at Hyatt Regency Tyson Corner Center hotel:

🌟 The room and especially the Plaza Premium Suite bathroom was exceptional

🌟 Proximity to the mall

🌟 The décor throughout the hotel and ambiance have a contemporary luxury ambiance

🌟 The Regency lounge was excellent

All the staff I encountered were attentive and especially friendly. I was impressed with this hotel. This is a city hotel that delivers. I would rate this stay as an Always 5 Star experience especially if you book this suite. The location is also within walking distance to the DC Metro, allowing for easy access to Washington, DC.
