I am a huge fan of the Hyatt World of Hyatt Rewards program. Each year I make it a goal to achieve the coveted Globalist* (highest) status. After spending time researching several other hotel reward programs, I discovered that Hyatt has, hands down, the best hotel rewards program. One of the many reward perks offered is the ability to book a room using points with an additional cash amount. This is called the Points + Cash program.
Here are a few of the benefits I found:
- I am able to reserve a room by using a combination of the points I have earned and cash.
- I have the ability to reserve a nice room while paying a deeply discounted price.
- This Hyatt stay counts toward earning elite status with the World of Hyatt rewards program.
How to get this great deal!
So, how do you get this great deal? It is actually quite simple, and you can do it all online!
First, you must be a World of Hyatt member and have enough points in your account. If you are not a World of Hyatt member, you can join on Hyatt’s website:
Here is the link to enroll:
World of Hyatt
After you have accumulated sufficient points in your account, you are ready to use the Points + Cash program.
5StarTip🌟
Here are the simple steps:
🌟 Go to the Hyatt home page and sign in with your World of Hyatt User Name and password.
🌟 After you have signed in, enter a hotel or hotel location and enter your dates.
🌟 You will be directed to a page to select which hotel you prefer.
For this example, I have chosen the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California.
🌟 After selecting a hotel, you will be directed to a page with tabs for different package types. Choose the “Show World of Hyatt Points & Awards” box.
In the following example below, the room that I am interested in the booking is the “1 King Bed” selection at $294.
🌟 The next screen will display one or more options for using Points + Cash. Please note, there are times (especially during peak seasons), that this option may not be available.
As you can see by this example*, the “1 King Bed” room that I wish to reserve was original $294 (see example above) or 20,000 points. With the Points + Cash program, I spent $125 and used only 10,000 of my reward points. This is a savings of $169 if I had chosen the cash only option. If I had chosen the points only option it would have been 20,000, so I saved 10,000 points.
How many points will it take?
Hyatt’s website has a chart to determine how many points and how much cash any hotel reservation will require. Each Hyatt hotel has been assigned a category number.
To find out which category the hotel you would like to book, click this link: Hyatt Category Search
Using this chart above as a reference, you can see that the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, California is a category “5” hotel as it requires 10,000 points and $125 in cash.
5StarTip🌟:
Not all hotels will qualify for the dates you are looking for. During peak seasons, some Hyatt hotels do not accept this offer. It is best to make your reservation well in advance of your stay, especially if you are looking at a popular location. And, try to avoid holidays as most hotels will not offer this promotion.
*Example used above amounts can change depending on the time of the year.
Final Thoughts:
This has been a game-changer for me when booking rooms with the Hyatt. I have been utilizing this offer since earning my Globalist status and have had the opportunity to stay at some of their finest hotels around the world.
